Buffalo Wedding Photography | Alexa & Chris | Avanti Mansion

Purple gowns, crystal crowns, tear-filled vows, wild dancing, s’mores bars, and the coolest cakes we’ve ever seen… These are just a FEW of the fabulous things we were invited to capture during Chris & Alexa’s day! And a beautiful day it was! The weather called for rain, but we were gifted with sunny skies and magical light, perfect for the lovely backdrops at Avanti Mansion.

I photographed this same family in this same spot a few years ago for Alexa’s sister’s wedding, and was so thrilled when they brought us back. Even though much of this day would be the same as Casey & Nico’s wedding, Alexa & Chris truly made their wedding their own! They had a stunning ceremony in the sunken garden, and a wild reception in the tent (so perfectly purple, flawlessly decorated by Alexa’s mom). They danced the night away with all of their guests, and didn’t seem to care about a thing except being there together. I can’t wait for you to see!

But before we jump into their beautiful images, I wanted to share one thing…

At even the craziest of weddings, there’s a moment that is so special to me. And at the end of every single wedding, I take that moment, I tuck into my mind, and try to hold onto it. It may be a line from your vows or a secret look exchanged that makes me feel a burst of love for my own husband all over again, or a kiss on your grandmother’s cheek that makes me want to run and call my own, or a moment during the parent dances that gets me dreaming about the day we will be up there, spinning our babies around…

Anyways, I know these moments have nothing at all to do with me, but I always feel a connection. This wedding, Chris’ dad gave the most lovely speech, and ended it with a thought that I cannot escape. I think about it every time I show my children something new, no matter how silly or mundane it is. I’ll leave his quote below for everyone to enjoy. Chris, please thank your father for these words, and for giving us all *that* moment.

“Love is finding your partner. Someone you can live for, and with. Love is sharing experiences, and enjoying them twice as much; through your own eyes, and theirs. In that sense, love lets you live twice.
