This isn’t photography related, and these aren’t even our photos, but I had to share all of the heart-warming and smile-worthy photos and posts I keep seeing circulating the web. There’s just something to be said about our city, and how we’re handling this crisis. In the middle of the pure chaos of a natural disaster, we find each other. We shovel out homes of which we don’t even know the occupants, we push each other’s cars, we share tools, laughter, coffee and stories. We come together as one and take care of each other, not because it’s the heroic thing to do, but because it’s the Buffalo thing to do.
There are many, many reasons why I am so proud to be a Buffaloian, and these are just a few :
Outrageous snowfall totals in parts of Buffalo, and barely any in others. So what do we do? The Buffalo Shovel Brigade Mob organized almost 500 city-dwellers to head into the Southtowns to help dig our fellow Buffaloians out!
We’re leaving an impression on the rest of the world…
Another beautiful thing to come from this storm is a Facebook group called WNY November Storm Help, comprised of almost 7000 members, connecting those that need help with those that can offer it. These are just a few of the posts I found there that left me teary-eyed.
We’re coming together as a community, and we didn’t even think twice about it!
And most importantly, in the face of a crisis, we still know how to have fun & make people smile!
Lastly, I wanted to end with a post I made almost 2 years ago, about the moment I realized this was MY city, snow, cold weather, and all.
Since that day in 2008 when I really, truly fell in love with the people of Buffalo, I started my business, met my husband, bought a house, got married and gave birth to a beauty baby boy. I honestly cannot think of a better city to put our roots down, and grow our family. In every single way, Buffalo is a part of who we are, and I thank you all for being a part of that. Keep taking care of one another & spread the Buffalove!
