Meet City Lights Studio : Handcrafted!

Hi friends! We hope this finds you all happy + healthy, as we close out another month of 2020. This has surely been a bizarre year for everyone, especially folks in the wedding industry! We have truly felt for our brides & grooms, who should have spent the year celebrating, but instead juggled loads of stress and reschedules. And shout-out, sincere solidarity and big, BIG virtual hugs going out to our “friendors”, who have seen cancellation after cancellation, and still ride the wave of being small business owners.

For us, we’ve taken it day-by-day, and have found some peace in our slowest-ever wedding season.

While we’ve been going strong with portraits and headshots still, I’ve found myself really missing a creative release. I need to stay busy, and have always felt that making things with my hands brings joy & soothes anxiety (and yes, we’ve had a lot of that in 2020!) I’ve enjoyed trying/improving upon all sorts of crafts and projects lately, including indigo dying, watercoloring, embroidery… But I keep finding my way back to one of my very first loves, jewelry design!

Before I was a full-time photographer, I could be found at art events and festivals (remember those?!) selling handcrafted jewelry. Once my photography business blossomed, I no longer had times for these things and happily traded in my beads and wire cutters for cameras and lenses. While I’ve been oh-so-grateful to have been so busy with City Lights Studio over the last dozen years, I’ve really missed having time to play creatively.

SO, I am excited to share that this weird year has brought about the rebirth of my jewelry creations! It has been such a gift to find a screen-free, fun side-hustle that I can enjoy safely at home, with my kiddos (who are now with me 7 days a week!) I have added some of my favorite creations to our online shop, and can’t wait to show you!
